1.   Robert “Bob” Joseph James:  born July 13, 1925 in Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas; married October 15, 1948 in Mulberry, Kansas to Rosemarie Bevans (1925-2014), daughter of Edward L Bevans and Nellie M. Robbins; died October 8, 2016 (aged 91) in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas; buried at Rosebank Cemetery, Mulberry, Crawford County, Kansas; known children include:  Mary Lynn James, Joseph Edward James and Steven Brian James (Family Tree Y-DNA Kit No. 914135).

 

2.   Conley Allen James:  born 1932 in Frontenac, Crawford County, Kansas; married February 11, 1954 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon to Beverly Wallace (1934-2000); died 2006 in Portland, Oregon; known children include:  Pamela Kay James, Lesley Anne James, Jeffery Allan James, Mindy Sue James and Marshall Lee James.

Joseph Arthur James (1899-1945) was the son of La Fayette James (1864-1942) of Crawford County, Kansas and Mary Delia Claunch (1873-1939) of Johnson County, Missouri.

 

Robert "Bob" Joseph James was born July 13, 1925 in Pittsburg, Kansas and was the son of Joseph Arthur James (1899-1945) of Crawford County, Kansas and Maggie May Loomis (1904-1982).  Bob died at 5:23 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 (aged 91) at Brookdale Broadway Cityview in Ft. Worth, Texas.

 

Bob was a longtime Frontenac resident and attended Frontenac schools.  He participated in football, basketball, and track. He also was in the school band and played trumpet.  Bob graduated from Frontenac High School with the Class of 1943.  In October 1943 Bob joined the Navy and served for two and a half years in the Pacific Theater during World War II and fought in six major battles.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.  

 

On October 15, 1948 Bob married the love of his life Rosemarie Bevans in Mulberry, Kansas.  Rosemarie preceded him in death on October 13, 2014 just shy of 66 years of marriage.  Bob attended the vocational branch of Kansas State Teachers College (now PSU) and graduated in 1950 with a two year electrical degree.  

 

Bob worked for the Kansas City Southern Railway for 4 years, then took a job with Spencer Chemical (Chevron-Texaco) Jayhawk Company at Crestline for 33 years retiring in 1982.  He was a member of the International Chemical Workers.  Bob was also a member of the Frontenac United Methodist Church for 60 years, a member of the John F. Derby Post #43 American Legion at Frontenac and served as Historian for six years.

 

Bob was also a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge #187 at Pittsburg, 55 year member of the Ft. Scott Scottish Rite, receiving his 33rd degree of the Consistory.  Bob held membership in the Red Cross of Constantine, Eastern Star #74 and the York Rite of the Knights of Templar #29.  He was a member of the Pittsburg Mirza Shrine, having served with the Greeters Unit.

 

Bob enjoyed taking his family on vacations to the Ozarks and visiting various sites of interest and taking his sons out for a day of local fishing.  After retirement, Bob and Rosemarie enjoyed traveling on bus trips to Canada, Mexico and all 48 states seeing the sights.  He lived most of his life in Frontenac before moving to Ft. Worth, Texas in 2014 to be closer to his children.

 

At the time of his death, Bob was survived by three children, a daughter, Mary Lynn (Jim) Thornton of Ft. Worth, Texas, two sons, Joe E. James of Pittsburg, Kansas and Steve (Bonnie) James of Benbrook, Texas, six grandchildren, Krista (Michael) Aylor, Jim (Stacy) Thornton, Maggie, Laianna, Jason, and Alex James, and three great-grandchildren, Keith Aylor, Megan and Kayla Thornton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie, his parents, and his brother Connie.
