Children of Maston James (1803-1858) and Delilah Thrasher (1811-1889) of Roanoke County, Virginia:

 

1.   Sarah Jane James:  born November 2, 1830 in Roanoke County, Virginia; married first to Joseph Warren Carroll (1838–1904); died January 18, 1929 (aged 98) in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia; buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Section 3, Lot 19, Grave 2 in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia; known children include:  Maston Asa Carroll, Henderson Terry Carroll, Delilah Sue Carroll, Walter Mack Lewis Carol, Mary Willie Carroll.

 

2.   Elizabeth Ann James:  born circa 1832; married February 16, 1858 to Paul T. Short; died circa 1931.

 

3.   Nancy Margaret James:  born 1836 in Roanoke County, Virginia; married December 9, 1858 in Roanoke County, Virginia to Daniel Siner; died 1920.

 

4.   Richard P. James:  born circa 1837; died circa 1862.

 

5.   Frederick D. James:  married Lydia Ann Jackson; known children include:  Peter James, Susan James, Lucy James and Betty James.

 

6.   Susan Miriam James:  born January 9, 1842 in Roanoke County, Virginia; married in 1877 to Richard Walker Craig (1824-1910); died May 17, 1910 (aged 68) in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia; buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Section 2, Lot 24, Grave 5 in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia.

 

7.   John McNeil “Mack” James:  born February 16, 1843 in Roanoke County, Virginia; married December 24, 1867 in Bedford County, Virginia to Mary Elizabeth Amos; died December 4 or 5, 1931 (aged 88) in Redwood, Franklin County, Virginia; buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Section M, Lot 5, Grave 11 in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia; known children include:  Elmer Spurgeon James, Maude Deleilah James, Claude Hurlburt James, Carlton Mathew James, Sarah Ann Leonette Elizabeth James and William Frederick James.

 

8.   Isaac Dallas James:  born February 14, 1845 in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia; married January 21, 1869 in Bedford County Virginia to Henrietta Emily Victoria Meador (1850-1922), daughter of Jubal Denis Meador and Elizabeth Ann Meador; died May 9, 1927 (aged 82) in Leonard, Fannin County, Texas; buried at Leonard Cemetery in Leonard, Fannin County, Texas; known children include:  Nance A.D.M. James, William Henry James, and Susie Estelle James.

 

9.   Lewis Harvey James:  born 1849 in Roanoke County, Virginia; single (never married); died 1935 in Roanoke County, Virginia; buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Section 2, Lot 24, Grave 11 in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia.

 

10. Mary Eliza James:  born circa 1850, died circa 1938.

 

11. Orra Emma Adeline James:  born 1854, single (never married); died 1918 in Roanoke County, Virginia; buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton, Roanoke County, Virginia.

 

12. Mahala Pink James:  married Wesley Zimmerman.

Notes:

 

Maston James (1803-1868) was the son of Daniel James, Jr. (1773-1841) and Elizabeth Bandy of Bedford County, Virginia.

 

John McNeil James (1843-1931) - Was a veteran of the Civil War. He served as a Private, 2nd Class in the 36th Regiment of the Virginia Infantry, Confederate States Army.
