27, 1994 (aged 85) in Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi; buried at Evergreen
Cemetery, Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi.
2. Yewell Hailey James: born July 10, 1915 in Union, Newton County, Mississippi;
married in 1933 to Mattie L. Saxton (1916-2011), daughter of L.L. and Nila Saxton;
died October 28, 1988 (aged 73) in Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi; buried
at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi; known children include:
Billy Yewell James and Linda James.
3. William Ralph James, Sr.: born February 8, 1920 in Union, Newton County, Mississippi;
married in 1941 to Lyle Delores Hollingsworth (1923-2007), daughter of George and
Estella Hollingsworth; died July 24, 1982 (aged 62) in Saucier, Harrison County,
Mississippi; buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport, Harrison County, Mississippi;
known children include: William Ralph James, Jr., Judy Ann James, Diana Kay James
and Danny Ray James.

Notes:
Harvey Malcolm James (1884-1973) was the son of Ralph Edward James (1859-1937) and
Paralee Payne (1864-1950) of Neshoba County, Mississippi.
William Ralph James, Sr. (1920-1982) was drafted and served in the US Army from March
16, 1943 to January 13, 1946. During World War II, Ralph achieved the rank of Private
1st Class. Upon his discharge in 1946, he returned to Union, Mississippi to his
wife and two children who were living with his in-laws. Shortly after, in the same
year, he moved his family to Gulfport, MS, near his parents home. He operated a small
store and gas pumps in the Turkey Creek area on old highway 49, North of Gulfport.
He remained in Gulfport until his death in 1982, 62 years of age.
