Children of Malinda James (1844-1920) of Bedford County, Virginia and William Hemsell (1842-1922):

 

1.    David Leftwich Hemsell:  born October 31, 1869 in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas; married October 1, 1891 in Hopkins County, Texas to Minnie Alice Rippy (1870-1955), daughter of William Rippy (1839–1899) and Mary Adaline Jordan (1844–1925); died January 12, 1959 (aged 89) in Greenville, Hunt CountyTexas; buried along side his wife in Section “E” of Forest Park Cemetery in Greenville, Texas; known children include:  William Claude Hemsell, Cora Lee Hemsell, Clyde E. Hemsell, Clarence Hemsell, Clorine J. Hemsell, Chester Hemsell, Chapman A. Hemsell, Clara May Hemsell, and Clenon Cleo Hemsell.

 

2.    Britta H. or “Bulla A.” Hemsell:  born circa 1871 in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas; appears in 1880 U.S. Census for Precinct No. 6, Hunt County, Texas with family as “Britta H.” (age 9).

 

3.    Melvin “Merian” L. Hemsell:  born 1875 in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas; appears in 1880 U.S. Census for Precinct No. 6, Hunt County, Texas with family as “Merian” (age 5); died 1914 (aged 38); buried beside his parents in Block “B” of Rosemound Cemetery, Commerce, Hunt County, Texas.

 

4.    Edward “Ed” James Hemsell: born circa 1877 in Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas; appears in 1880 U.S. Census for Precinct No. 6, Hunt County, Texas with family (age 2).

Notes:

 

Malinda James (1844-1920) was the daughter of Joel L. James (1811-1875) and Angelina Ryan (1812-1906) of Bedford County, Virginia.

 

David Leftwich Hemsell (1869-1959) was a Chief Of Police, Constable, Sheriff and Justice of the Peace for Greenville, Hunt County, Texas during his life.
