373 At a Court held For Bedford County the 22nd day of September 1794 - This Indenture together with the Memorandum of Severy of Seisin – thereon endorsed was proved by the Oath of Matthew Pate, Andrew Howell, Daniel James and Abner Howell witnesses whose names are thereunto Subscribed and Ordered to be recorded.

This Indenture Made this Twentieth day of September One thousand seven hundred and ninety four between Thomas Harris & Deborah his Wife of the one part and Daniel James of the other part and both of Bedford County & State of Virginia – Witneseth that the said Thomas Harris & Deborah his wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty pounds in hand paid to Jacob Howell assignee of Thomas Harris the receipt whereof the said Thomas Harris and Deborah his wife doth hereby acknowledge and hath given granted bargained sold and released Enfeeofed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien enfeeof and confirm unto the said Daniel James and to his heirs forever One certain tract or parcel of land containing One Hundred and Sixty four Acres be the same more or less lying and being in Bedford County part of a Survey of Two hundred and Seventy two Acres and bounded as follows, Viz Beginning at a White Oak in linetree of the full Survey and running with the old line a refvered course South fifty Six East – forty poles to a black oak thence North eighteen East fifty eight poles to a pine and Spanish Oak thence North forty West twenty six poles to a red Oak by a path side thence North fifty One West thirty Seven poles to a large White Oak thence North Sixty five West Seventy eight poles to a Spansih Oak, thence North fifteen West, twenty eight poles to a Spanish Oak in a line of the full Survey, thence with the same or reversed Couirse South Seventy One West forty eight poles to a pine or Corner of the full tract thence with the old line as Pattern.
To have & to hold the said land and premises unto the said Daniel James and to his heirs and assigns forever and the said Thomas Harris and Deborah his Wife doth Covenant for themselves their Heirs that they will warrant and forever defend the said Land unto the said Daniel James and to his Heirs and assign forever. In Witness whereof the said Thomas Harris & Deborah his Wife have hereunto “Set their hand & Seals the day and year above written.
