On September 28, 2001, George Alspaugh of Columbia, Tennessee wrote: “Cousin Larry,
Ruth and I have just returned from her McConnell family reunion in Bogata, Red River,
Texas. Had a wonderful time, to our surprise, the McConnell family presented us with
a ‘friendship’ quilt, with all attending signing their names to it. They said that
this was to show their appreciation for all our work in gathering the McConnell,
Privett, James and Butler family information. It was such a surprise to us and is
something we will cherish for the rest of our lives. While in the area we had to
do some family research. Think we solved the William George James marriage. While
at the Delta County Library, Ruth was looking at a book on Lamar County Marriages
and found William G. James to Lucinda E. Whaley 6th July 1853. We then went to Lamar
County Courthouse in Paris, Texas and looked it up in the Marriage Record Book No.
1 and on page #83 it is listed as-
