Historical Records of Clark Hester James (1890-1972)

 

Below follows the only historic record of Clark Hester James (1890-1972) of Palo Pinto County, Texas held by the James Family Archives. Clark was born on July 11, 1890 to Leroy Campbell “Leonard” James (1858-1937) of Commerce, Hunt County, Texas and Minnie Lee Draper (1875-1953) of Cass County, Texas. Clark was also the grandson of William George James (1832-1908) of Bedford County, Virginia and the 5x patrilineal great grandson of David James (c1660-1739) of Llandegley and Glascwm parishes in Radnorshire, Wales who migrated to Pennsylvania with William Penn in 1682.

 

In 1922, Clark married Iva Mae Lauderdale (1905-1999), daughter of Elbert Brown Lauderdale (1878-1937) and Mary Jane Ferguson (1885-1973). To this union were born two children: Billy Jack James (1922-1967) and Dorothy Lovene James (1926-1927). Clark died on December 7, 1972 (aged 82) in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County, Texas. Clark is buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County, Texas.
