Children of Richard M. James (1871-1899) of Fannin County, Texas and Dora May Allen (1879-1947) of Arkansas:

 

1.    Alice Mae James: born February 5, 1898 in Hunt County, Texas; married circa 1919 to Wattson Thomas Torrence (1877-1949), son of Edwin Gray Torrence (1852-1920) and Jesse A. Howell (1854-ukn); died January 12, 1981 (aged 82) in San Diego, San Diego County, California; buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Plot H, 614, San Diego, San Diego County, California; known children include: Richard Edwin Torrence (1918-2002) and Juanita Jewel Torrence (born 1924).

 

2.    Richard Clarence James: born December 12, 1899 in Hunt County, Texas; married February 10, 1922 in Hunt County, Texas to Ollie Cornelia Kirkland (1903-1941), daughter of John Henry Kirkland (1867-1950) and Nannie Isabell Wilson (1881-ukn); died July 31, 1981 (aged 81) in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; buried at City of Lubbock Cemetery, Block 22, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas; known children include: Frances James (1929-2008), Alice Itura James (1931-1936) and Wanda Mae James (1937-2005).

Biographical Notes:

 

Richard M. James (1871-1899) was the son of William George James (1832-1908) of Bedford County, Virginia and Lucinda Elizabeth “Betty” Whaley (1835-1881).

See also, 1900 U.S. Census for Precinct No. 6, Hunt County, Texas - Richard M. James’ wife Dora May (Allen) James is living with her brother J.G. Allen along with her two children Alice Mae James (aged 3 - born in Tennessee) and Richard C. James (aged 1 - born in Texas).  Alice is identified as a “widow” which places the death of Richard M. James between 1898 and 1900.
