Children of Daniel James (circa 1750-1817) of Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and Susanna Bealert (1745-1849) of Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania:

 

1.    Daniel James, Jr.:  born March 31, 1773 in Pennsylvania; marriage bond issued September 24, 1792 in Bedford County, Virginia with John Pate as surety; first married September 25, 1792 in Botetourt County, Virginia by Joseph Drury to Elizabeth Pratt, daughter of John Pratt; second marriage on October 13, 1801 in Botetourt County, Virginia to Elizabeth Windott Bandy (born 1773), daughter of Thomas Bandy, Sr. (1748-1835) and Mary Christian (1752-1775); died January 1841 (aged 67), in Roanoke, Virginia; known children include:  Matson James, Mahala James, Sarah Jane James, Woodford James, Richard Bandy James, Jane James, Annie Eliza Lou James, Elizabeth Ann James and Sally James.

 

2.    Sarah (Sallie) James:  born circa 1773 in Bedford County, Virginia; marriage bond issued November 11, 1791 in Bedford County, Virginia; married November 30, 1791 in Bedford County, Virginia by Nathaniel Shrewsberry to Samuel George West; known children include:  Nathaniel West, Nancy West, Ann West, Samuel Irving West, Mary Polly West, Martha West and Elizabeth West.

 

3.    Mary Elizabeth (Polly) James:  born February 11, 1774 in Bedford County, Virginia; marriage bond issued November 24, 1796 in Bedford County, Virginia with David Martin as surety; married November 29, 1796 in Bedford County, Virginia by Nathaniel Shrewsberry to Isaac Daniel James, Sr. (1770-1853), son of Elias James (1744-1789); died August 1, 1864 in Bedford County, Virginia; known children include:  Mary Susan Elizabeth James, Hannah M. James, Aaron James, Elias James, Mary Anna James, Susan James, Matson James and Isaac Daniel James, Jr.

 

4.    Jacob James:  born circa 1775; married December 24, 1792 in Bedford County, Virginia to Nancy Basham, daughter of Archibald Basham and Winna Jones; Daniel James acted as surety for the marriage bond.

 

5.    Joseph James:  born circa 1777; first married in 1794 to Susannah Wright; second marriage on September 13, 1800 in Bedford County, Virginia to Mary McCan with John McCan as surety.

 

6.    Thomas James:  born August 18, 1781 in Botetourt County, Virginia; married November 4, 1806 in Botetourt County, Virginia to Barbara Britz (1782-1812), daughter of Johann Adam Britz (1741-1832) and Margaret Stover (1752-1820); known children include:  David James, Margaret James, Elizabeth James, Otey James, Susan James, Alice James, Nancy James, Samuel Adams James and Elias James.

 

7.    Elizabeth (Betsy) James:  born October 18, 1783 in Bedford County, Virginia; married April 29, 1811 in Bedford County, Virginia to John Gish, Sr. (1785-1876), son of George McHenry Gish (1762-1830) and Maria Susanna (nee Stover) Gish (1763-1828); died in 1850 in Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana; known children include: William A. Gish, Joel Gish, John D. Gish, Susan Gish, Elizabeth Gish, Mary Gish, Sarah Ann Gish, Anna Nancy Gish, James Christian Gish, Julia Ann Gish, George Washington Gish and Samuel J. Gish.

 

8.    Jonathan James:  born circa 1785 in Bedford County, Virginia; married shortly after issuance of marriage bond on April 23, 1810 in Botetourt County, Virginia to Polly Bandy (1789-1849), daughter of John Arlen Bandy (1752-1810) of Clinton, Cumberland County, Virginia and Lucy Christian (1762-1825); died November 27, 1843; place of burial unknown; known children include: Joel L. James, George Washington James, John James, Polly James, Susannah James, Patsy Jane James and Jonathan James.

 

9.    Johnson James:  born circa 1787; married January 17, 1809 in Bedford County, Virginia to Polly Hogan (born 1788), daughter of James Hogan (born 1775); died before 1826; known children include: Perlina James, Ivy James and Sarah Lee James.
