Children of Thomas James (circa 1804-1851) and Mary Polly Bonds (circa 1807-1887) of Georgia:

 

1.    Thomas James:  born circa 1830 in Georgia.

 

2.    Elizabeth James:  born circa 1833 in Alabama; died in 1880.

 

3.    Pvt. Elias Walter James:  born February 4, 1836 in Franklin County, Alabama; Private in Company “E”, 4th Alabama "Roddey's" Cavalry, CSA during the War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865); married Cynthia McGary Richardson (1847-1915), daughter of John Richardson and Nancy Hester; died January 24, 1917 (aged 80) in Pogo, Franklin County, Alabama; buried at the James Cemetery near Pogo, Alabama at the base of Freedom Hills, overlooking the beautiful valley; known children include:  William Amos James, Robert David James, John Andrew James, Thomas Enoch James, Daniel Jonson James, Alfred Clark James, Elias Wilson James, Nancy Catherine James, Mary Etta James, Joe Guyton James, Naomi Samantha James, Modena Alice James and Jim A. James.

 

4.    Pvt. William Anderson James:  born 1836 in Franklin County, Alabama; Private in Company “H”, 16th Alabama Infantry, CSA during the War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865); married 1886 in Franklin County, Alabama to Catherine J. Willis (1838-1918), daughter of Andrew Jackson Willis and Artimissia Sparks; died January 14, 1912 in Franklin County, Alabama; buried at Mount Zion Cemetery, Franklin County, Alabama; known children include: Flora Octavia James.

 

5.    Rachel James:  born circa 1840 in Franklin County, Alabama.

 

6.    David James:  born circa 1842 in Franklin County, Alabama.

 

7.    Pvt. Andrew “Jack” Jackson James:  born August 28, 1844 in Vina, Franklin County, Alabama; Private in Company "E", 9th Alabama Calvary, CSA during War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865); first marriage to Catherine Ella Sherrill (died 1884), daughter of Moses Sherrill and Sarah Hilll; second marriage June 1885 to Martha Ann “Mattie” AKA “Matt” Britnell (1858-1925), daughter of John Wesley Britnell (1831-1898) and Cynthia M. Hobson (1838-1900); died November 8, 1902 (aged 58) in Franklin County, Alabama; buried at Rock Creek Cemetery in Colbert County, Alabama; known children include:  Arthur Lee Cleveland James, Nora “Myrtle” Hessentine James, George Elmer James, Eugene Birdline James, Cynthia Eruby Fannie Bell James, Lillie Pearl James, Willie Earl James, Elias Hugh Jackson James, Jennie Beulah James and Edward Newman James.

 

8.    Pvt. Enoch Jimmy James:  born circa 1846 in Franklin County, Alabama, Private in Company “E”, 4th Alabama "Roddey's" Cavalry, CSA during the War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865); married April 12, 1870 in Clarendon, Monroe County, Arkansas to Adeline Sprewell (1853-1879); died May 28, 1885 (aged 39) in Clarendon, Monroe County, Arkansas; buried at Shady Grove Cemetery, Clarendon, Monroe County, Arkansas; known children include:  Virginia “Jennie” Burton James and Malinda E. James.

 

9.    Mary James:  born circa 1849 in Alabama.

 

10.  Jefferson James:  born 1851.

 

11.  John James: born 1852.

Notes:

 

Thomas James (circa 1804-1851) was the son of Elias James (circa 1775-1840) of Wilmington District, North Carolina.

 

Elias Walter James (1836-1917) enlisted in Co. E, 4th Alabama “Roddey’s” Cavalry, CSA.  His younger brother Enoch also served in the same unit.  Elias was severely wounded on December 24, 1864 in a skirmish north of Decatur, Alabama.  A Yankee shell exploded near his horse, a piece of shrapnel struck him in the head.  A piece of his skull was shot out and covered with a silver dollar.  J. A. Taylor, of the same unit, carried Elias home from the battlefield.
